                    Carl Dane of Pekin, Illinois

    Below is Carl Danes "Memorial Picture Tribute"

           He will be Missed, But, Not Forgotten

Carl Dane

PEKIN -- Carl Gene Dane, 68, of 230 Court St., Apt. 901, died at 4:22 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, in the emergency room of Pekin Hospital. He was formerly of Manito.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pekin. Bishop Shaun Shurtliff will preside. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the missionary fund at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pekin, the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.

Born March 23, 1936, in Maquon Township, Knox County, to Jack Carl and Alice Alta Brown Dane, he married Wanita Ann Wisher on Aug. 7, 1959, in Peoria.

Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Wendy Sue (Ron) Wilson and Pamela J. (Wayne III) Englebrecht, both of Pekin, Wanda L. Dane of Peoria, and Jacqueline N. (Robert) Siegler of South Pekin; three sons, Michael A. (Joyce) Dane, Carl N. Dane, and Keith A. Dane, all of South Pekin; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Cleo Richards of Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by one infant son, Andrew J. Dane on Feb. 11, 1981, one grandson, and one brother.

Dane worked for International Harvester Motor Truck Division in Peoria as a journeyman diesel mechanic for five years. He later worked for Peoria Public Schools District 150 for 17 years as a fleet mechanic. He last worked as a driver for Wilson Towing in Pekin for seven years, retiring in 1991. He also had owned and operated C&W CB Sales and Repair in Manito for several years. His CB handle was "Great Dane."

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1962, attending services at the Pekin Ward. He was first counselor of the adult Sunday school, assistant librarian and elder at the Pekin Ward. He also was a past Family History Missionary for the Peoria Stake Center.

He was a former member of REACT in Mason County.

He raced stock cars during the 1950s and 1960s and was a team racing driver in the Peoria area.

He enjoyed gardening and canning.
